Breast Augmentation for Breast Asymmetry

Breast augmentation is a procedure that can often help correct breast asymmetry. Breast volume discrepancy is common. When choosing to place implants, an occasional difference of 25 to 50 cc can improve the overall appearance of the breasts as well as make then appear more similar.

When determining implant volumes and sizes, it is best to measure the base width of the breast to determine the implant ranges. Once the base width is determined, the profile of implant ranging from (moderate, moderate plus, or high) or (style 10, style 15, or style 20) can be selected.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation procedures are common procedures performed in our office. Typically patients come to our office in the spring so that they can be ready for swimwear in summer.

Selection of implant volume is normally determined by two factors. The first factor is how broad the base of the breast is. The second factor depends on the laxity of the breast tissue skin envelope. Many different breast volumes can accommodate various implant sizes.

Recovery from breast augmentation is variable. If patients can refrain from going to the gym for 4 weeks following surgery, that is best. Alternatively patients can rest for two weeks and then may resume light exercise such as stationary bicycle at two weeks after the procedure.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation procedures are common procedures in the spring and summer months. Patients typically come to the office during the spring season so that they are "ready to go" to the beach or summer events. Healing from breast augmentation surgery takes several months. The position of the breast implant settles significantly over six months to one year. Patients begin to look good at around four to six weeks post-operatively. Patients tend to get the best results, if they can limit their amount of physical exercise during the four to six weeks that they are healing.
